The OLED controller, I²C address, supply voltage, and onboard pull-ups must be checked on the actual module. The firmware scans the I²C bus but does not assume either SSD1306 or SH1106.

The buttons use internal pull-ups and connect between their GPIO and GND. No physical hardware test has been performed as part of this change.
